Ariadna KryazhevaBorn and raised in Saint-Petersburg, Russia, Ariadna has lived in the US for more than 12 years. She is a professional violinist, vocalist, composer, as well as the founder of Mindful Music Studio. Ariadna graduated from the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver with a Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Violin and Jazz Voice Performance. She was first introduced to the Alexander Technique at Lamont.
Ariadna began studying the violin at the age of 5, and by the time she entered university, she struggled with neck, shoulder, and back pain caused by improper violin technique and poor habits developed over the years. While in college, Ariadna tried chiropractic treatment, and discovered that she also had scoliosis. The chiropractor |
helped temporarily relieve the stiffness, and attempted to correct the improper curvature of the spine. However, much to Ariadna’s frustration, the chiropractic adjustment of the bones soon shifted back due to longterm pre-existing muscle memory and continued habitual use.
Ariadna tried Alexander Technique as part of her college studies. Alexander Technique quickly became an an effective way to relearn how to practice violin more efficiently, eliminating pain. After applying the Alexander Technique to her instrumental study, Ariadna began noticing the every day benefits of the process. She was so inspired by the work of her Alexander teacher, Heidi Brende Leathwood, that she decided to become a teacher herself, to be able to understand it in more depth, as well as apply it to her own music teaching.
Ariadna graduated from the Riverside Initiative for the Alexander Technique in New York City under the guidance of director, Nanette Walsh. Completing the 1600-hour journey with her colleagues was a transformative adventure, which she loves to share with others.
